Timothy stomped out a spot across from the Breckenridge ski area for a view of the New Years Eve Torchlight Parade in which people ski down the mountain carrying burning red torches. The Imperial Express Chair was opened just a few weeks prior to the parade, and to celebrate the ski area had two parades, one coming down from Peak 9 and one coming down from Peak 8.

One of the difficulties in creating this image was the fact that digital camera batteries in 2005 were very susceptible to cold weather. As a result, Timothy could only keep the shutter open for only a minute or two at a time when he would have to take a cold battery out of his camera and exchange it with a warm one from his pocket. He did this several times and ended up created over a dozen separate exposures over the course of the parade. He combined them into this final image that features the entire 20 minute long parade. The one firework was shot off near the end of the parade, and it was just a matter of luck that Timothy wasn't changing batteries when it went off.
